About Us

Variety Pack Collective was established in 2019 in Brooklyn, NY as a place for artists to collaborate, create, and celebrate their love for dance.

Who We Are:

Variety Pack Collective(VPC) was founded in 2019 by a group of dancers in Brooklyn, NY who yearned to continue exploring their passion for dance with a group of like minded individuals with a willingness to collaborate and create together. VPC take pride in maintaining technical skills, while incorporating an artistic outlook and creative mindset in our process. VPC has created work for both live and digital performances and our pieces range from contemporary to jazz and anything in between. As dancers of different backgrounds with different abilities working and living throughout NYC, we all come together to build a community without judgment, or stipulations. VPC aims to continue growth, artistic creation and most of all, to create an impact in the dance field, while fostering relationships with facilities and artists across NYC. VPC has collaborated with artists such as Mitch Blummer and Anna The Win, and has worked with Harkness Dance Center, Movement Research Center, Green Space Entropy, Alpha Omega, Brooklyn Arts Exchange and Artist After Hours. We continue to explore various venues of art such as residencies, performances, choreographic opportunities and overall, any opportunity to perform or create!

Our Mission:

Variety Pack Collective serves the New York community of artists. We are constantly seeking opportunities to collaborate with various artists such as photographers, videographers, other dancers, and live musicians. We aim to provide opportunities of collaboration for cinematographers, photographers and fellow dancers. We also believe in dance being affordable to those who want to train and move with others. A goal of ours as we grow and become financially sound, is to host classes, workshops and improv jams where we would invite live musicians to also create art with us.

Our Relationship:

We all met in 2019 through an online forum for dancers to come together and move without the judgment and stress that often comes with being dancers in NYC. We have all been dancing and creating work for the last 3 years together through zoom (due to the pandemic), and then eventually in person. We each have a position in the collective, and play an important part in making our collective work collaboratively. We have weekly rehearsals where we each work to provide our time, creative input and energy towards the common goal of equally participating as a collective. Our overall goal is to continue creating work and eventually have an evening length showcase. We hold each other accountable and genuinely love and respect the collective and the relationship we have with each other. Despite all of us having very different lives outside of dance, we all stay driven, determined and dedicated to making the collective amazing.
